What is Keto?
Anika Le Blanc: Keto is a type of lifestyle that involves consuming macros. Macros are Macronutrients are molecules that our bodies use to create energy for themselves – primarily fat, protein, and carbs. The lifestyle includes high FAT, low/no carbs, and MODERATE protein.
My Keto Testimony
Anika Le Blanc: Approaching my 39th birthday and weighing roughly 215 lbs. I knew something had to give. I was suffering from depression due to my friend died, I did not know how to grieve, and the food was becoming my comfort. I've always known my love for food was a gift and a curse, and now, the love turned into an addiction in which I couldn't control. Kendra (@blacketogirl) and I have always been social media friends, and scrolling through her photos was nothing new, but lately, she was doing something extraordinary that resonated with me.
The Ketogenic Lifestyle.
Anika Le Blanc: Kendra was now MASTERING this new lifestyle called The Ketogenic Lifestyle. Now I will not lie, I was intrigued but apprehensive about attempting to do Keto because from what I could see, it entailed a lot of discipline and counting macros, both of which I was not interested in doing. At the same time, I knew I needed a change. I was in dire need of some self-discipline, and I figured that if I can grasp control of my poor eating habits, I would ultimately master other areas of my life.
At the start of June, I gave Kendra a call hoping she would take me on as a client in July. But, she told me that her client list was full, and I would have to wait until August. Discouragement settled in because I did not (and could not) wait until August. I needed to start NOW. So after about two weeks, I received a phone call from Kendra asking if I was still interested in Keto coaching for July. I was so excited, I decided NOT to wait until July 1 but to start immediately.
On June 26th, 2017, I started my new KETO TRANSFORMATION. The first two weeks on Keto were the most difficult. Tracking macros were one of the hardest things I've ever had to do, but Kendra was a great support. She told me to keep it simple and stay focused, and I lost 18 lbs in the first month! My body transformation has been one of the most liberating experiences of my life!
Keto has taught me so much about nutrition, patience, and self-love. I learned that the food we were raised on cause a lot of damage to the body. Now I eat for nutrition because I learned that healthy eating is essential to feeding the mind, soul, and body. I have lost 60 lbs., which makes me closer to my goal. My journey continues.
